HOW TO ENTERTAIN

　
1.EFFECTS To make guests relax and help to do good communications.
2.PRACTICE
　①Purchase Sencha tea･･･You should take care of buying a little amount of tea from regular sellers.
　→Be conscious that tea is liable to go bad.
　→You should buy them by yourself.
　②Tea things･･･kyusu (teapot),chawan(tea bowl),chataku(saucer),bons(trays),binshiki（mat for a kettle）　2 kinds of towels, bowl, water
　③How to make ceremonial Sencha tea

	［The first tea］
Boil the water.→Take care of using fresh hot water.－Boil each time. Do not use the electric thermos pot. Pour the hot water into the teapot.－To warm the teapot Pour the hot water from the teapot to the tea cups.－To warm the cups.→Cast off. You put the tea leaves.－As your taste, pour some hot water into the pot and steam for a minute. Pour the water, which cools a little and put the cap of the pot.→Wait a couple minutes. ※Pour slowly to make tea leaves float on the hot water. While waiting, you wipe the teacups and lined us the saucers. Pour the tea into the tea cups off, taking care of the strength of each cup.－Not be left tea in the teapot. Check the bottoms of teacups and the saucers are wet or not and serve to the guests.

	［The second tea］
		When the guests have the first tea ,you put away the cups quickly. →It is difficult to serve the second tea timely but as fast as you can is good for the flavor of tea. When you put away the cups you may ask "How about another cup of tea?"

3.Hospitality

In case that it is hard to serve so many cups at once you may bring the cups and the saucers divided,before serving you can set them.
Put the tray on the side table (or the table) and set the cups on the saucers.
You should say "Please have a cup of tea" ,in serving with smile.＝It is very simple and important.
◎You serve the tea from the right side(behind) of the guest. Serve for the quests first, and next your family members.
◎Before leaving the room you should bow quietly. Be aware not to interrupt the conversation.
◎You bring the tray on the left hand putting the right hand softly the edge of the tray.
◎Sweets should be served after the first tea.→It helps to offer the guests the second tea.

NOTES

1.Do not pour the second tea into the same teacup, which was used once.
2.Do not add the water into the teapot
3.It is the right way to do tea ceremony in front of guests.
4.Be careful about the timing to entertain. If prepared tea got a little cold before serving, cast it off and do another tea ceremony.
5.Be conscious to entertain the guests.
6.While entertaining, you should not make the guests feel being entertained. So you have　　　　　　　to make some devices. These notes are mostly for the strange guests. In case you invite friends, you had better to make tea in front them and do harmonious tea ceremony.
